Inmate Services
Inmate Funds
-
Funds for an inmate's account will be accepted in the Lobby Monday thruogh Friday between 8:30am and 5:00 pm, excluding holidays.
-
Only cash or money orders will be accepted.
-
Money orders may also be mailed to the inmate.
Inmate Commissary
-
The Detention Center provides for a commissary service twice weekly through a privately contracted company. Snacks, drinks, hygiene items, t-shirts, socks underwear, radios, paper, stamps, envelopes, telephone calling cards, etc. are available.
-
In addition to the commissary program, indigent inmates may apply for a hygiene kit consisting of a tooth brush, tooth paste, soap, shampoo, deodorant, comb, pencil, paper, envelopes, and stamps weekly. To receive the indigent kit, the inmate must be indigent for a period of seven (7) days.
Medical Care
-
Medical care is available 24 hours a day through our medical staff or through outside medical facilities.
-
A five-dollar co-payment is charged to inmates to defray the costs of medical/dental/ psychological treatment as allowed by state law.
-
These charges are on a per-occurrence basis.
-
Inmates that are indigent are examined and treated as necessary, with co-payments debited from their accounts in anticipation of funds being deposited. Lack of funds in an inmates account will not prevent an inmate from being treated medically.
Recreation
- In addition to indoor recreation, inmates are given outdoor recreation supervised by Detention Center staff as weather conditions, inmate population, and security measures allow.
Food Service
-
Food services of the Detention Center are overseen by a full-time kitchen supervisor. All food preparation and distribution is completed through an inmate labor work force. All menus are approved by a Registered Dietitian. The kitchen is inspected by DHEC and the Department of Corrections Inspection Division.
-
In calendar year 2007, there were a total of 481,065 meals served at a cost of $399, 704.17 averaging .83 cents per inmate meal.
Inmate Programs
-
Religious services are provided through a group of community citizens whom volunteer their time and resources and are managed by Detention Center staff.
